The Language and Literature Bureau (DBP) recently organised a Tamu Bahasa forum in conjunction with the Language Month, live streamed on Zoom and Facebook.
Former lecturer at Universiti Brunei Darussalam Dr Hajah Aini binti Haji Karim delivered a presentation on ‘Perancangan Bahasa di Negara Brunei Darussalam: Kata Serapan Bahasa Arab ke dalam Bahasa Melayu’.
DPP’s Head of Building and Expansion Section Hajah Sariani binti Haji Ishak chaired the forum.
Some 49 strategic partners of the bureau and senior government officials and local as well as international language, literature and culture enthusiasts attended the event online.
Among the key topics discussed were clarifying language planning, the dimensions of language planning and the development of the Malay language in the Sultanate. – Adib Noor
