KUALA LUMPUR (BERNAMA) – The Asian Sepaktakraw Federation (ASTAF) will hold a live online Certified Coaching Course Level 1 (Theory) for 75 officials around the region today.
According to a statement issued by Astaf, the online course will be held via video conferencing application Zoom from Singapore and officiated by the Member of Parliament for Bishan-Toa Payoh, Singapore, Saktiandi Supaat at 11am.
ASTAF President Abdul Halim Kader said the online course would cover topics like safety, biomechanics, professional coaching, leadership and people management.
“The content of this first-ever online course is to equip coaches with the standards that will allow them to function with greater confidence and integrity.
“The sooner the coaches are provided with wider perspectives, the sooner they can also transfer such knowledge and apply it to their athletes,” he said.
Abdul Halim said the online course would be held from May 18 – 29, with ASTAF sponsoring SGD50,000 (RM152,255).
“We are very surprised that despite the COVID-19 pandemic, ASTAF still managed to attract sepak takraw officials to join this course live from Singapore, with trainers hailing from Singapore, Thailand and the Philippines,” he said.
