One COVID case passes away from blood infection

A man diagnosed with COVID-19 passed away yesterday from a blood infection.

The news was announced by Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar at the daily press conference yesterday.

Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham said, “The Ministry of Health (MoH) wishes to inform that one confirmed COVID-19 case has passed away.

“Case 1377 was a 62-year-old man who suffered from a blood infection (septicaemia), and his passing is not categorised as a death from the COVID-19 infection.

“To protect the privacy as well as the confidentiality of the case’s family, the MoH will not share his personal details.”

He added, “The public is requested to show respect and refrain from disseminating information relating to the case.

“Representing the MoH and the people of Brunei Darussalam, I offer my deepest condolences to the family.”

Meanwhile, the number of COVID-19 related deaths in the Sultanate remains at 16, according to the minister.
