No violations detected at vehicle inspection stations

James Kon

Officers of the Weights and Measures Unit (SDT), Industry and Business Ecosystem Division under the Ministry of Finance and Economy (MoFE) who visited workshops offering Vehicle Inspection Station (VIS) services on Monday found no violations.

The two weighing machines (brake testers) were found to be registered and verified in accordance to Chapter 151 of the Weights and Measures Act 1983 and Weights and Measures (Verification) Regulations, 1994 under Section 3(1).

SDT reminded traders as well as weight and measure users that instruments used for weighing should be registered. Failure to do so is an offence with penalty of BND1,000 fine or imprisonment for three months or both.

Unregistered instruments may be forfeited and any contract, bargain, sale or dealing made by such weight and measure will be deemed void.
