No more age limit for Friday prayers

There will be no age limit for congregants attending Friday prayers at the implementation of the Level 5 of the de-escalation plan, the Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA) said yesterday.

Effective yesterday, children aged 12 and below can now perform the Friday prayers.

The ministry said congregants performing prayers at mosques, suraus and religious halls nationwide must still follow guidelines such as registering with the BruHealth app and those not feeling well are advised to stay home.

The congregants are encouraged to have their body temperature checked and bring prayer mats. Physical distancing should be observed and hand shakes are not encouraged.

Congregants are still required to perform ablution at home, use face masks and sanitise their hands before entering and upon exiting the mosque.
