No injuries reported in dual fires

The bedroom of a two-storey Jalan Mulaut home was completely destroyed in a fire on Tuesday, while no injuries were reported.

Watch Commander of Team ‘C’ DSO Misli bin Haji Pungut led 13 firefighters from the Jerudong Fire Station to the scene after receiving the 3.30pm distress call.

Firefigthers contained the fire within seven minutes. Investigations are ongoing with regard to the cause of the fire and damages sutained.

Earlier that day, a distress call was received regarding a kitchen fire at 11.45am.

DSO Misli and his team were dispatched to the scene, only to discover the residents had doused the flames with a fire extinguisher. The cause of the fire and damages are still being investigated. No injuries were reported.

In light of this, the Fire and Rescue Department (FRD) urges the public to equip their homes with dry powder fire extinguisher, fire blankets and battery operated smoke detectors.

Wiring works should be executed by skilled worker, and electrical appliances should be switched off before leaving the house.
