Ninth anniversary celebrated with return of blood donation drive

After a couple of years missing their annual blood donation drives, SCR Xpress made a comeback by holding one on Sunday at its premises at Citis Square, Berakas.

SCR Xpress Manager Florence Nava said the blood donation drive is part of their annual give-back-to-the-society activities during their anniversary celebrations. However, the pandemic caused them to take a two-year pause.

With the Sultanate now in the endemic stage, the management decided to bring back the drive as they celebrate the restaurant’s ninth anniversary.

SCR Citis Square management has been conducting and supporting the Blood Donation Centre since its inception nine years ago and holds the distinction of having the national record of maximum donations under one roof. The management also feels close to the cause as blood supply in Brunei is mostly on the low side.

Nava said, “SCR Citis Square has happily anchored many blood donation campaigns for other organisations in our lobby and have provided complimentary food. We would be happy to support such initiatives in the future as well.” She added that they are humbled by the enthusiastic response as despite inclement weather, a substantial number of donors turned up.

As a gesture of appreciation, all those who turned up for the blood donation were treated to a complimentary buffet.

Nava also thanked the medical team from Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha (RIPAS) Hospital’s Blood Donation Centre for their efforts in making the campaign a success.

The drive, conducted in collaboration with the RIPAS Hospital Blood Donation Centre, collected 32 pints of blood.
