    Newly-formed BFA Football Club set for district league

    BFA Football Club will be among the 12 teams that will be taking part in the Brunei Muara District Football League 2021, which is set to kick off on Friday.

    The club was newly established by Brunei Food Awards with the objective of providing a platform for youth to engage in sports and positive activities.

    High Commissioner of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh to Brunei Darussalam Nahida Rahman Shumona, who is also the Honorary Patron of BFA Football Club, attended the officiation of the BFA Football Club recently.

    Also in attendance was the Advisor of the BFA Football Club and Acting Village Head of Kampong Jaya Bakti, Burong Pingai and Jaya Setia Haji Omar Ali bin Haji Daud.

    The ceremony witnessed the signing of 25 players who will be representing the club in the district league. The players comprised members of Kampong Jaya Bakti, Burong Pingai and Jaya Setia Youth Association.

    Present to sign the contract with the players was BFA Football Club Manager Haji Nasir bin Dato Paduka Haji Latif, witnessed by the Assistant Manager Hamidah binti Ismail and head coach Pengiran Hassanuddin bin Pengiran Damit, who is also the head of Kampong Jaya Bakti, Burong Pingai and Jaya Setia Youth Association.

    Pengiran Hassanuddin expressed hope that the formation of the BFA Football Club will provide youth with constructive experiences as well as to foster discipline, teamwork and cooperation.

    Organised by the Brunei Muara District Football Association, the participating teams will be split into two groups with all matches to be played at the Sungai Kebun Sports Complex.

    BFA have been drawn in Group ‘A’ alongside Deno FC, Admirul Red Star, Dagang FT, Miisa United FC and Wondrous FT while Group ‘B’ comprise Seri Wira FC, AKSE Bersatu, Perkasa, MSN United FC, Almerez FC and Ar Rawda.

    The league’s opening match will be contested by Deno FC and Admirul Red Star FC while new boys BFA will begin their campaign against Wondrous FT on July 4.

    The group matches are expected to be completed on October 10 with the top two teams from each group advancing to the last four phase.

    The semi-finals have been scheduled on October 22 and 23 while the third place match and final will be held on October 31 and November 3.
