Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) personnel yesterday afternoon found an infant’s body floating along Kianggeh River close to the Muslim Cemetery Unit Office in Kampong Kianggeh.

The RBPF received a report about the floating body at 1.45pm.

Witnesses had seen something resembling a doll floating on the river’s surface which they later realised it was an infant’s body.

The RBPF and the ambulance were immediately contacted. Paramedics who conducted an examination pronounced the child had passed away.

The body was brought to the Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha (RIPAS) Hospital for a post-mortem and further investigations.

Preliminary investigations revealed that it was a newborn female infant.

The RBPF is seeking public assistance and requested to provide information to RBPF’s Women and Children Abuse Investigation Unit at 993 or 2459500.
