THE residents of Kampong Kulapis and its surrounding areas will be able to perform their five-times-a-day prayers and the Friday prayers in congregation, as well as the nightly Tarawikh and Witir prayers during the upcoming blessed months of Ramadhan, and other religious activities at the new Kampong Kulapis Mosque.
The new mosque is contributed as a personal endowment or ‘Waqaf’ from an anonymous donor.
The handover ceremony of the new mosque’s mock key was held yesterday in the presence of the Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs, Dato Paduka Haji Awang Abdul Mokti bin Haji Mohd Daud, who is also Vice President of the Brunei Islamic Religious Council (MUIB).
The key was presented by a family member of the donor.
MUIB is the Trustee Holder and sole recipient for the endowment.
The mock key was later handed over to the Acting Director of Mosque Affairs, Haji Amir Hisham bin Haji Masri.
The new mosque is built on five acres of state land and can accommodate about 700 worshippers.
Among the facilities provided include separate prayer halls for both male and female congregants, an imam room, a store, kitchen, reading room, conference room, multi-purpose hall, parking space, toilets and separate ablution areas for male and female worshippers, as well as a mortuary.
