The rapid development brought about by digital technology and globalisation poses many challenges and Chung Hwa Middle School, Bandar Seri Begawan (CHMS BSB), as one of the oldest educational institutions in Brunei Darussalam with 101 years of history, will continue to equip the new generation with knowledge and noble characters.
Newly appointed Chairman of the Board of Directors of CHMS BSB Jeff Yong Teck Chin said this during the installation ceremony for new members of the Board of Directors for the school.
Yong added, “We will strive to remain an exceptional and relevant educational institution to help the Sultanate achieve Brunei Vision 2035, in addition to educating students to be citizens and residents loyal to His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and the country as well as uphold the Malay Islamic Monarchy philosophy.
“We will continue to support better teaching and learning in the school to achieve excellence in academic and co-curriculum pursuits.”
Permanent Secretary (Core Education) at the Ministry of Education Dr Shamsiah Zuraini Kanchanawati binti Haji Tajuddin, the guest of honour, witnessed the signing of the letters of appointment.
The new Board of Directors comprised Executive Chairman Lim Boon Hua; Vice Chairpersons Ong Tiong Oh, Lim Ming Kiat, Lim Ting Chai, Dr Muhammad Firdaus bin Abdul Rahman @ Dr Tan Kah Hock and Dato Lai Heng Wai; Secretary Kueh Ngee Wei; and Treasurer Lee Ah Ing.
