Brunei Shell Marketing Company Sdn Bhd (BSM) officially kicked off its 6th Fill Safe, Feel Safe (FSFS) campaign yesterday at OneCity Shopping Centre.
Minister of Transport and Infocommunications Pengiran Dato Seri Setia Shamhary bin Pengiran Dato Paduka Haji Mustapha officiated the event which highlighted BSM’s commitment to providing a safe refuelling environment for all customers.
BSM Managing Director Mohammed Alexirwan bin Haji Omar emphasised BSM’s commitment to providing a safe refuelling environment for all customers. As Brunei’s key fuel supplier, BSM is dedicated to raising public awareness about safety guidelines and supporting Service Champions in upholding these guidelines.
A key highlight of this year’s FSFS campaign is a new safety initiative where service champions place a coloured safety sleeve on the side mirror of the customer’s vehicle to indicate the selected fuel type. This visual reminder serves to remind customers to switch off their engines and electronic devices before refuelling, helping to prevent incidents like wrong fuel fillings and nozzle pull-outs.
In addition to the new safety initiative, BSM also focused on other safety aspects, including: road safety awareness educating the public about safe driving practices near Road Tanker Carriers (RTCs) and highlighting blind spot areas; providing guidelines on the safe use of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG); and advancing safety measures for refuelling jerry cans at retail stations.
BSM has also appointed new retail health, safety, security and environment (HSSE) ambassadors to enhance safety at retail stations. These ambassadors will lead quarterly sessions to review incidents and share safety insights, reinforcing the importance of safety protocols and preventing accidents.
Through the FSFS campaign, BSM aims to reduce incidents like nozzle pull-outs, wrong fuel fillings and hose detachments. By prioritising safety and promoting awareness, BSM continues to uphold the highest standards of safety across all retail stations, ensuring a safe refuelling experience for the public. – Lyna Mohamad
