PLUS-EXP, an online platform that provides work experience opportunities powered by Grominda Group, officially launched its website at the Design and Technology (D&T) Building in Kampong Anggerek Desa yesterday.
Invited as guests for the launch were Javed Ahmad, Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of DARe (Darussalam Enterprise), with representatives from the Royal Brunei Technical Services (RBTS), KPMG Brunei Darussalam, and Brunei Gas Carriers (BGC), as well as educational institutions such as Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD), Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA), Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB), and Institute of Brunei Technical Education (IBTE).
The event began with a recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah by Wan Murtadha bin Wan Alwi, an IT intern of Grominda Group, followed by a welcoming statement by Anthony Rasiman bin Sigar, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Grominda Group, as well as opening remarks by Md Firdaus bin Bohari, co-founder of Grominda Group.
Md Firdaus explained how everything started for Plus-EXP, when Md Firdaus and his friends found difficulty looking for a specific platform that offered internship places while they were in university.
With that in mind, Md Firdaus and his colleagues embarked on the journey to provide people in Brunei with an online platform for work experience through internship, and participated in the first batch of the 100-Days Startup Bootcamp organised by DARe. There, they created their first version of the system called ‘Tag-a-field’, a platform to connect talents and companies for internship opportunities in February 2017.
“We took a year of validating the idea, talking to users and asking them how we could improve,” added Md Firdaus.
The event continued with an introduction to Plus-EXP and website launch by Md Nur Aiman bin Haji Minorhadi, Co-Founder of Grominda Group.
Grominda Group is a research company that focusses on fostering the development of human capital through the early stages of career development, with a vision to be the leading centre for youths’ development in the region.
Plus-EXP was created to enable youths to apply for internships directly to companies, and is intended to make it easier for them to gain work experiences.
It also aims to work with relevant institutions and companies to align university courses in Brunei Darussalam with job market demands.
Another feature included in the website is training and workshops, such as CV clinics and interview technique workshops which can be applied for by signing up on Plus-EXP.
Registration for both companies and internship seekers is available. However, they are still consolidating the data for the website, thus the full features of the platform will only be available at the end of April.
