A key presentation ceremony was held on Monday to mark the completion of a new funeral management building for the Zainab Mosque in Lumut.
Acting Director of Mosque Affairs at the Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA) Haji Amir Hisham bin Haji Masri was the guest of honour.
He was welcomed by Mosque Affairs Officer of Zainab Mosque and event chairman Normaday bin Haji Ahmad.
Takmir Committee and Muslimah Group members of Zainab Mosque, as well as officers from the Mosque Affairs Department branch in the Belait District were also present.
The construction of the new building was made possible through Waqaf donations by members of the community, as well as several groups and agencies.
The ceremony began with the signing of the Waqaf forms to initiate the handover process by Waqaf representative Haji Abdul Lani bin Haji Abdul Samad.
It was witnessed by the guest of honour and Belait District Mosque Affairs Officer Haji Haslan bin Haji Shahbudin and Normaday.
Normaday said the building was first envisioned back in 2019, with the approval of the Mosque Affairs Department.
“Alhamdulillah, we received approval from Authority for Building Control and Construction Industry (ABCi) to start construction while adhering to the COVID-19 guidelines early this year. The start of the construction work only began during the third stage of de-escalation,” he said.
“The building was constructed within two months at an estimated cost of BND36,800.”
The ceremony concluded with a handover of keys to the Mosque Affairs Officer of Zainab Mosque by a representative of the contractor who constructed the building.
