THE Mukim Sengkurong Consultative Council (MPM) elected its new executive committee members for the period 2017-2021, after dissolving the previous committee of 2011-2016 yesterday.
The election process – held during a general meeting chaired by Haji Musa bin Haji Tahir, Penghulu of Mukim Sengkurong – saw 21 new committee members elected, representing seven villages under Mukim Sengkurong, namely Sengkurong ‘A’, Sengkurong ‘B’, Jerudong, Tanjong Nangka, Mulaut, Kulapis and Lugu and Katimahar.
The meeting elected new advisors, secretary and deputy secretary. It retained its chairman, deputy chairman and treasurer, while also electing several new members.
In his speech, the chairman urged the new committee members to continue to support the council in organising community activities, for the development and welfare of the mukim and its residents, especially on the aspect of security.
