423 new COVID cases in the past 24 hours
Brunei Darussalam records a new daily high in COVID-19 cases, adding 423 cases in the past 24 hours, with four new clusters containing 162 cases, bringing the total number of cases in the country to 10,251, according to the Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Hj Md Isham bin Hj Jaafar at a press conference today.
One COVID-19 related death was also reported today. Case 8202 was a man aged 77 who succumbed to lung problems after being infected with COVID-19. The death toll for COVID-19 in the country rises to 44.
There are 67 additional new cases to 20 of the existing active clusters who were previously close contacts with several positive cases.
Sharing further details on the four new clusters, the health minister said all of them are accommodation clusters, including two worker dormitories of Swee Sdn Bhd and Nurisman Sdn Bhd. Therefore, the total number of active clusters are 170 clusters.
Meanwhile, 194 new cases are still being investigated to determine the source of the infection.
184 cases have recovered today, bringing the total number of recovered cases in Brunei Darussalam to 7,682 cases, whereas the total number active cases are 2,501 cases.
Among the cases being treated at the National Isolation Centre, six cases are in Category 5 and currently treated at the Intensive Care Unit. All of them require assistance of artificial ventilation with two cases requiring the help of additional heart/lung
machine (ECMO). Meanwhile, 29 cases are in Category 4 that require oxygen assistance and are under close monitoring.
