The National Netball Team Royal Bees returned after 11 days of competing in Singapore at the Asian Netball Championship (ANC) and finished sixth out of the 11 countries, a similar spot to the last ANC in 2018
Brunei Netball Association (BNA) President Lieutenant Colonel (Rtd) Hajah Wan Shahlimar binti Haji Suhaili was in the delegation.
Even though the Royal Bees team lost to the Philippines in the last game, they beat Maldives 51-42. The achievement of finishing sixth in the competition and their fighting spirit are commendable considering that half of the team got their first international cap in the championship.
Head coach Nur Hafizah binti Haji Abdul Sidek, said, “During the competition, we gained a lot of experience. Out of 12 players, six are new to the competition and we only had three months of training. Despite this, we still managed to achieve such a result. I am grateful and proud of the team because they adapted to our strategies and they learnt fast. They listened to instructions well which made my job easier. The team managed to stick to the game plan.
“The team will continue to train to get ready for the Asian indoor games next year in Thailand.”
