Net tightens around immigration offenders

Two foreign workers have been detained following an operation by law enforcement officers from the Immigration and National Registration Department (INRD) yesterday morning.

Operasi Langis, among others, zeroed in on clothes stores at Jaya Setia Square in Mukim Berakas, resulting in a woman being investigated under the Immigration Act and Regulation, Chapter 17 for allegedly violating the provisions of Regulation 9 (4) which is to work using a visitor’s pass. Another foreign national is also being investigated under the Immigration Act and Regulation, Chapter 17 for allegedly committing an offence and in violation of the provisions of Regulation 15 (2), which is to work with another employer.

INRD reminds employers to ensure the validity of employees’ immigration passes, and to keep track of their whereabouts.

Foreign nationals are reminded that should they be convicted of an offence, they will be expelled from the country and blacklisted.
