National Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Brunei Darussalam (NCCIBD) President Haji Mohammad Hanafi bin Pehin Orang Kaya Digadong Seri Diraja Dato Laila Utama Haji Abdul Rahman expects better cooperation, teamwork, commitment and responsibility for the NCCIBD Executive Committee this year.
Speaking at the NCCIBD Executive Committee Meeting yesterday, he said, “We foresee NCCIBD’s involvement with ministries in near future. This will further enhance our contribution towards the Brunei Vision 2035.
“Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, activities had been put on hold or postponed, nevertheless, virtual activities were carried out,” he said.
“In December 2020, we had a meeting with the Ministry of Finance and Economy, and we proposed to form the Federation of Brunei Darussalam Chamber of Commerce and Industry. We hope it can be formed before the DPPMB Executive Committee end its term this year. And as Brunei is set to chair the Asean Summit this year, there will be a high possibility we will be involved in it.
Meanwhile, NCCIBD Deputy Secretary General Haji Halim bin Saim highlighted the chamber’s past roles and engagement with government ministries and departments, foreign missions in the country and virtual meetings with foreign business associations.
An introduction was also held for the new Chinese Chamber of Commerce Bandar Seri Begawan committee members nominated into NCCIBD’s Executive Committee for 2021-2023.
