NBA fines Spurs’ Collins for obscene gesture

NEW YORK (AFP) – The NBA fined San Antonio Spurs big man Zach Collins USD35,000 on Saturday for flashing his middle finger at officials after he was ejected from a blowout loss to Sacramento on Friday.

“San Antonio Spurs forward-center Zach Collins has been fined USD35,000 for making an obscene gesture on the playing court following his ejection,” the league said in a statement.

Collins was tossed with 9:07 left in the second quarter of Friday’s game after arguing with referees about a call.

The Spurs had tried to take him out of the game but he continued jawing with referee Michael Smith who slapped him with a technical foul.

Collins continued to rant until Smith gave him a second technical and the ejection.

The Spurs eventually lost the contest 140-113.
