Nationwide mass Khatam ceremony launched

The launching of the 76-time Khatam Al-Quran Recitation Ceremony for members of mukim and village consultative councils (MPK), school students and higher learning institutions nationwide was held yesterday in conjunction with the upcoming 76th birthday of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam.

The ceremony took place at selected mosques nationwide after mass Asar prayer.

In Brunei-Muara District, the ceremony was held at Jame ‘Asr Hassanil Bolkiah in Kampong Kiarong attended by Minister of Religious Affairs Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman and Minister of Home Affairs Dato Seri Paduka Awang Haji Ahmaddin bin Haji Abdul Rahman in his capacity as Chairman of the National Committee for His Majesty’s 76th birthday, 2022.

In Belait District, the ceremony was held at Mohamad Jamalul Alam Mosque in Kuala Belait attended by Permanent Secretary (Safety, Welfare and Law) at the Ministry of Home Affairs Mohd Amir Hairil bin Haji Mahmud. Also attending was Deputy Permanent Secretary (Core Education) at the Ministry of Education.

Meanwhile, in Tutong District the venue was Hassanal Bolkiah Mosque in Pekan Tutong.

Permanent Secretary (Administration, Finance and Estate) at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports Pengiran Mohd Amirrizal bin Pengiran Haji Mahmud was in attendance. The Utama Mohammad Salleh Mosque in Pekan Bangar was the venue in Temburong District. Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Religious Affairs Haji Mohammad Rosli bin Haji Ibrahim was in attendance.

The ceremony commenced with mass recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and followed with reading of Al-Quran from the first Juzuk.

The ceremony concluded with Doa Selamat.

Participants comprised members of MPK, school students and higher learning institutions from all four districts.
