Nationwide Khatam Al-Quran for royal birthday

The start of a nationwide 78 times Khatam Al-Quran ceremony was held, to mark His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam’s 78th birthday yesterday.

The event began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah, followed by the recitation of Al-Quran verses by participants, comprising village consultative councils (MPKs) and students.

Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar was present with Acting Belait District Officer Haji Amirol Hafidzin bin Haji Muhammad during the event at Muhammad Jamalul Alam Mosque in Belait District.

Minister of Home Affairs Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Ahmaddin bin Haji Abdul Rahman and Minister of Education Datin Seri Setia Dr Hajah Romaizah binti Haji Mohd Salleh participated in the event at Jame’ ‘Asr Hassanil Bolkiah in the Brunei-Muara District.

Minister of Primary Resources and Tourism Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Abdul Manaf bin Haji Metussin joined the event at Hassanal Bolkiah Mosque, Tutong District.

Minister of Development Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Muhammad Juanda bin Haji Abdul Rashid was present at the event at Utama Mohammad Salleh Mosque in the Temburong District.

Also present at the ceremonies were permanent secretaries, deputy permanent secretaries, government officials, executive committee for the 78th birthday celebration of His Majesty, penghulus, deputy penghulus, village heads, assistant village heads, members of MPKs, religious officials and residents. – Fadley Faisal & Daniel Lim
