The Day of Action Campaign in conjunction with the International Volunteer Day 2024 was successfully organised by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS), specifically through the Department of Youth and Sports (DYS).

Activities took place simultaneously across all four districts on Sunday.

International Volunteer Day, mandated by the United Nations, is observed annually on December 5.

It provides a unique opportunity for volunteers and organisations to celebrate efforts, share and promote their work, and contribute to peace and development by fostering recognition and integrating volunteerism into development programmes.

The celebration in Brunei Darussalam serves as a platform to unite the community in developing the spirit of volunteerism.

It symbolises solidarity and collective efforts towards positive change through collaboration at all levels of society.

The event aimed to nurture a sense of volunteerism, acknowledge active volunteers and organisations through the use of the Mengalinga application, and strengthen community unity through meaningful activities.

It also sought to enhance understanding of volunteerism through various initiatives.

In conjunction with the celebration, the Event and Appreciation Ceremony for the Day of Action Campaign was held at the Mumong Sports Complex, Belait District.

Present as the guest of honour was the Minister of Development Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Muhammad Juanda bin Haji Abdul Rashid. Also present as the special guest was Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Dato Seri Setia Haji Awang Nazmi bin Haji Awang Mohamad.
