Nationhood programme instils patriotic spirit in students

The Information Department through its Nationhood Unit, Nationhood and Community Division held the Rakan Remaja Penerangan (RRP) programme for students of Sultan Muhammad Jamalul Alam Secondary School at the auditorium of the Extension Building of the Information Department yesterday.

Acting Deputy Principal (Administration) Norazian binti Abdullah as well as 57 Year 10 students and teaching staff from the school were present.

The event began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and Doa Selamat led by teacher Haji Fadhilullah Umar bin Haji Md Asnawi, followed by the national anthem Allah Peliharakan Sultan and the patriotic song Bendara Negara.

The event continued with a briefing entitled Raja Kita, Menghayati Bendera dan Lagu Kebangsaan Negara Brunei Darussalam by Acting Information Officer Hajah Noorhijrah binti Haji Idris.

A video clip entitled Kibarkan Bendera Negara Dengan Megah was then screened, followed by a contemporary traditional dance performance with the song Seantero Dunia by Sultan Muhammad Jamalul Alam Secondary School students and a solo vocal performance by Bintang Penerangan champion Muhammad Nor Amirudin bin Haji Ibrahim.

A nationhood quiz followed led by Hajah Kasumawati binti Haji Buntar and Haji Mohd Firdaus bin Haji Salleh, before a presentation of quiz prizes and souvenirs. The programme aimed to disseminate information, spread awareness on developments and affairs among the students, instil a sense of civility and social responsibility among teenagers; as well as making students’ agents in disseminating positive constructive information to peers.
