The national team will be participating in the FIFA World Cup pre-qualification, AFC and AFF tournament.
This was revealed when the Football Association of Brunei Darussalam (FABD) held its 8th Ordinary Congress at The Centrepoint Hotel, Gadong on Monday.
FABD President Pengiran Haji Matusin bin Pengiran Haji Matasan shared that the FIFA Forward Development Programme 1.0 and 2.0 for the Construction of a Technical Centre and Mini Grandstand have been completed and operationalised.
He also shared that the refurbishment of FABD House had also been completed.
“As for the future projects, I am pleased to inform Congress that FIFA has announced the FIFA Forward 3.0 with total funding of USD3 million for the cycle 2023-2026,” said the president.
FABD has identified and informed FIFA of three main projects – futsal centre, national youth academy and a centre of excellence in every district.
The meeting was attended by FABD executive committee members, FABD members, standing committee members and the FABD Secretariat members as well as representatives from Asian Football Confederation (AFC) and ASEAN Football Federation (AFF).
The president said that the AFC Executive Committee has approved the AFC Enhance Programme with the inclusion of AFC Enhance Member Association Advantage Programme and the AFC Enhance Member Association Extra-Time Programme.
“This means, that both programmes will benefit FABD with a potential receipt of an allocation of USD200,000 annually for the development of football in Brunei Darussalam,” said the president.
“Currently FABD is in the process of upgrading the floodlights in our stadium (the turf) and providing floodlights on our grass field,” said the president. The next congress will be held on November 18.
