THE National Khatam Al-Quran for youth and Tedarus Al-Quran ceremony were held yesterday at the Al-Ameerah Al-Hajjah Maryam Mosque in Kampong Jerudong.
The guest of honour was Minister of Religious Affairs Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman.
Others in attendance included Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Religious Affairs Dato Seri Setia Haji Abdul Aziz bin Orang Kaya Maharaja Lela Haji Mohd Yusof; Deputy Permanent Secretary (Administrative and Financial Affairs) at the Ministry of Religious Affairs Roslan bin Haji Taja’ah; and Deputy Permanent Secretary (Policy and Religious) at the Ministry of Religious Affairs Haji Mohd Serudin bin Haji Timbang; as well as participants from various youth associations.
The ceremony began with a Surah Al-Fatihah recitation led by the guest of honour, followed by the Khatam Al-Quran and Takhtim. The Tahlil, Doa Arwah and Doa Khatam were then read.
The event concluded with the presentation of a souvenir to the guest of honour and the recitation of Doa Allah Peliharakan Sultan dan Brunei Darussalam.
Organised by the Mosque Affairs Department, Ministry of Religious Affairs and the Takmir Committee of Al-Ameerah Al-Hajjah Maryam Mosque, the event was held to instil among the participants a passion for reciting Al-Quran and piety to its teachings, to foster closer bonds between the mosque youth members, as well as to honour the mosque as a religious institution that plays an important role in transitioning Brunei into a Zikir Nation.
