National COVID tally surpasses 90K cases

The Sultanate detected 4,185 new COVID-19 cases yesterday, bringing the national tally of confirmed cases to 93,034.

Of the new cases, 3,639 were from antigen-rapid test (ART) results uploaded to the BruHealth application, while 546 were from 2,536 RT-PCR laboratory tests performed in the past 24 hours.

Meanwhile, four COVID-19 cases have returned to the grace and mercy of Allah the Almighty, of which two were categorised as death due to COVID-19; one case categorised as death not due to COVID-19, while the cause of death for the other case is under investigation.

The updates on the COVID-19 situation in the country was shared by Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar at the daily press conference yesterday.
The minister said, “On behalf of the Ministry of Health (MoH) and the people of Brunei

Darussalam, I’d like to express our deepest condolences to the cases’ families. May their souls receive blessings and be placed among the pious.”

Meanwhile, 3,234 cases recovered yesterday bringing the total number of recovered cases in the Sultanate to 53,346 with 39,541 active cases.

The bed occupancy rate at isolation centres nationwide is 9.1 per cent, where 337 active cases are placed in isolation centres. Some 39,204 positive cases are undergoing home self-isolation.

On the National Vaccination Programme, the minister said as of March 6, 56.7 per cent had received three doses.

Meanwhile, no violations were recorded for the movement restriction from midnight to 4am yesterday.
