Muted festivities a small price to pay amid pandemic

Since the onset of COVID-19 in the country, festivities have been muted by the health measures to keep the people safe. It is a small price to pay, considering that there are still countries battling the surge of new cases. In Brunei, we get to enjoy the freedom to move around without the thought of an impending lockdown hovering over our heads.

As such, I would like to applaud the authorities for their steadfast response to the outbreak. While celebrations have been largely “gloomier” than the years past, we can at least take comfort in knowing that our family members and friends are safe from the coronavirus.

Various parts of the world have already begun vaccinating their people, and it is just a matter of time before we start doing the same. Hopefully, the world would be back to normal by next year. And if it did, it would largely be due to the country’s leadership.
