Muslims urged to emulate Prophet’s character

In the Friday sermon ahead of the Maulidur Rasul celebration on October 29, Imams urged Muslims to apply the teachings and exemplary character of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) as a guide in their daily lives.

“One of the ways to express our love and affection for Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) is to hold firm to the teachings of Al-Quran and As-Sunnah,” said Imams during the sermon.

“Our religion also encourages its followers to recite the Selawat for Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), as often as possible.

“Every year, we commemorate the birth of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) with unique Bruneian features that are rarely seen elsewhere, by holding Dikir Maulud ceremonies in mosques throughout the country for 12 consecutive nights. All of these are done to express our love for Prophet Muhammad (pbuh).

“This year, the Dikir Maulud ceremony is still observed at mosques, suraus and religious halls across the country. However, due to the COVID-19 outbreak congregants and members of the public are advised to comply with Ministry of Health’s regulations.

“Finally, let us show determination in upholding the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) by emulating his character as our guide and role model in all aspects of life.

“Hopefully, by doing so, we will obtain blessings, mercy intercession and assistance in the hereafter.”
