Mushaf UNISSA writing completed; certificates awarded

Minister of Education cum guest of honour Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Hamzah bin Haji Sulaiman attended an appreciation ceremony to mark the completion of the Mushaf Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA) writing at The Rizqun International Hotel yesterday.

Minister of Religious Affairs Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman and Chief Syar’ie Judge Pehin Orang Kaya Paduka Seri Utama Dato Paduka Seri Setia Haji Awang Salim bin Haji Besar also attended.

The ceremony commenced with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah led by Religious Teachers University College of Seri Begawan (KUPU SB) Core Education Centre Education Officer Mohamed Noor bin Haji Ibrahim, who is also a UNISSA alumni.

UNISSA Rector Dr Haji Norarfan bin Haji Zainal said the writing of Mushaf UNISSA was officially launched by His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam during the first Mahrajan Hafl Al-Takharruj of UNISSA on October 24, 2011. During the launch, His Majesty wrote Basmalah on the Ummul Kitab.

Initially the writing of Mushaf UNISSA was done by UNISSA lecturer Wan Habib bin Wan Ibrahim, until his passing on February 8, 2015. The work was then completed by his student, Muhammad Riziman bin Haji Usin, who is now a UNISSA assistant lecturer.

The Mushaf was fully designed by local experts including Allahyarham Wan Habib (the main designer for the Mushaf), Pengiran Haji Ibrahim bin Pengiran Haji Bakar and Hamdy bin Emran. UNISSA Production Officer Dayangku Nurfaiezah binti Pengiran Haji Kamaluddin also contributed towards designing the Mushaf pages.

The ceremony proceeded with a presentation of certificates and gifts to those involved in the projects.
