Mukim Sukang gets new Penghulu

Some 64 residents of Mukim Sukang cast their vote to elect 33-year-old Shahronizam bin Haji Mohamad Noh as their new Penghulu yesterday.

The event, at the Mukim Bukit Sawat Multi-purpose Hall in Kampong Sungai Mau, saw 64 supporting Shahronizam through the e-Undi PMKK app and in-person voting, while four disagreed and three were invalid.

Shahronizam, a BTEC diploma graduate in Computing and System Development, works as a hostel supervisor for the Ministry of Education.

The vote count was supervised by Acting Belait District Officer Haji Amirol Hafidzin bin Haji Muhammad, accompanied by Legislative Council (LegCo) member Yang Berhormat Haji Mohd Salleh bin Haji Othman, who is also Penghulu of Mukim Bukit Sawat and LegCo member Yang Berhormat Mohammad bin Abdullah @ Lim Swee Ann, who is also the Acting Penghulu of Mukim Sukang and Mohammad Haazeq bin Arsad from Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA).

The results will be presented to the Board of Appointment, Discipline and Procedures for the Mukim Penghulu and Village Head at the MoHA.

Similar voting sessions will be held across Belait District, starting with Kampong Mumong ‘A’ from November 15 to 17, and Kampong Pandan ‘C’ from November 19 to December 1. – Daniel Lim
