M’sian rapper seeks apology over alleged privacy violation at massage parlour

SUBANG JAYA, Malaysia (ANN/THE STAR) – Malaysian rapper Sharifah Zamaera Syed Zafilen Al Edros, known as Zamaera, is demanding an apology from an officer of the Subang Jaya City Council (MBSJ) who allegedly filmed her in secret during a massage session at a parlour in SS14.

In addition to an apology, Zamaera (SCMP pic below) is calling on MBSJ to issue a formal statement outlining the standard operating procedures (SOPs) for raids at such establishments and to affirm that they do not condone the alleged actions of their officer.

Taking to Instagram, Zamaera claimed that while she was receiving a massage in a curtained room on Wednesday, she noticed a man wearing sunglasses peering through the curtains and filming her with a mobile phone.

“I was lying on my tummy with my face turned to one side, with only a towel partially covering me. I saw light coming from behind and realised someone was filming me,” she said.

According to Zamaera, she immediately wrapped herself in the towel and confronted the individuals outside the room, who identified themselves as MBSJ officers. She noted that some were in uniform while others were in plainclothes.

“When I asked why I was being filmed, one officer denied it, but another claimed it was part of the SOP during raids to check for illicit activities,” she said.

The officer reportedly showed Zamaera footage recorded at the establishment, which included a video of another female customer who was also naked from behind while receiving a massage in a separate room.

Expressing her outrage, Zamaera filed a police report and lodged a formal complaint with MBSJ against the conduct of the officers involved.

“I feel violated and unsafe as a woman,” she said, describing the incident as a breach of her privacy and dignity.

Meanwhile, police said that no one was found to have recorded any inappropriate footage during the raid.

Subang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Wan Azlan Wan Mamat said the raiding team had been provoked during the incident and that Zamaera had failed to comply with instructions to show identification.

“Investigations showed that the complainant (who was part of the raiding team) and other officers were provoked by Zamaera and that she had used her phone to record them during the raid. Both the complainant and Zamaera then inspected the phone of the officer accused of filming her and found no photo or videos,” he said in a statement on Saturday (Dec 7).

Both the complainant and Zamaera lodged a police report after the incident went viral on social media.

ACP Wan Azlan said that a complete investigation will be conducted on both reports.
