The Brunei Futsal Cup 2022 finally kicked off last night as MS ABDB showed their title credentials with a thumping 13-1 win over Creativol in the opening fixture at the Ministry of Defence last night.

The opening clash witnessed MS ABDB begin their title quest in resounding fashion after an inspiring performance against Creativol.

Buoyed by a fervent home crowd, the army personnel quickly dictated the tempo of the game and enjoyed a fair share of opportunities and possession. Their attacking threat was apparent with the influence of national player Awangku Muhammad Jumatatul Aleshahrezan bin Pengiran Metali, who played a role in the recently-held ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) Futsal Championship 2022.

The attacker took a brilliant strike after his initial effort was blocked to put his team in the driving seat.

Creativol relied on their counter to try and dismantle the MS ABDB’s defence and nearly got on the score-sheet after Faris Wa’ie Sohardi was introduced.

With the MS ABDB defence unable to contain his powerful drive, he carved space to make a shot which brushed off against the post in a rare piece of attack from Creativol.

But it was MS ABDB that asserted their dominance led by a four-goal performance by Awangku Jumatatul.

Mohd Syarif Ridzwan bin Shahrulizam was equally lethal with a hat-trick while Abdul Matin bin Norazlan bagged a brace.

The quartet comprising Awangku Mohammad Khairul Bahri bin Pengiran Adruman, Abdul Malik bin Yunus, Muhammad Abdul Zulfadhli bin Abdullah and Mohammad Safari bin Wahit was also in the score-sheet.

Creativol’s mere consolation came a minute from time through Haziq Hamzulani.

Meanwhile, the second match of the competition was contested between GG FT and Shah United.
