MS ABDB and Almerez FA said they will produce their finest performance for the highly-anticipated Brunei Futsal Cup 2022 final at the Ministry of Defence tonight.

Although they have clashed in non-official tournaments in the past, the futsal cup final will mark the first meeting between the two sides starting with the first-leg tonight.

MS ABDB team manager Pengiran Haji Jufry bin Pengiran Haji Jaludin said, “We have prepared the strongest possible squad so we will do our best in the final.”

The final presents an opportunity for either team to win a first major trophy in the Sultanate since the Brunei Futsal League was last held in 2017.

With Malaysian outfit Kuantan Rangers lifting the trophy last year, the last domestic team to win were Kota Junior in 2016.

Almerez FA Head Coach Pengiran Haji Kamarunsalehin bin Pengiran Haji Kamis said, “As not only a coach but also as an enthusiast, we have been looking forward to the tournament for a long time.”

His counterpart Pengiran Haji Jufry echoed his sentiments, agreeing that football is the favourite sport in Brunei, which makes futsal a part of it.

The second leg of the final will be held this Friday at the same venue.
