The activities arranged by a village must take into account the ideas, feelings and prosperity of residents, Brunei-Muara District Officer Misle bin Haji Abdul Karim said.

Speaking at the handing over of certificates to new Village Consultative Council (MPK) members and the Bureau of RPN Kampong Panchor Mengkubau yesterday, he said MPK members can enhance unity and spirit of neighbourhood in jointly implementing the community and village plan especially of RPN Kampong Panchor Mengkubau.

Plans made should also take into account the environment, be it financial, ideas and resources. They need not have to be on a large scale but importantly create the spirit of living in a nation, village and neighbourhood and for the villagers’ harmony, Misle said.

Legislative Council member Yang Berhormat Pengiran Haji Mohamed bin Pengiran Haji Osman @ Othman, Acting Penghulu of Mukim Mentiri and Brunei-Muara District Office officials were also present.

The RPN Kampong Panchor Mengkubau set up the new MPK and Bureau members for the 2019-2023 session to replace MPK for the 2016-2021 session after it was dissolved at a meeting at the Brunei-Muara District Office last August.

The formation of the new MPK for 2019-2023 saw many new faces along with the old members. Some 35 new MPK members for the 2019-2023 session received certificates at a ceremony at Dato Mohd Yassin Primary School, Kampong Mentiri.

Since established in 2016, MPK RPN Panchor Mengkubau has been organising various community, charity, religious and sports activities.

Meanwhile Acting Village Head of RPN Kampong Panchor Mengkubau Mohammad Hilmy bin Haji Ahmad said 11 members have been appointed for the MPK and Bureau on disaster and security, religion, community and communications, media and publicity, economy and women.
