The signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on cooperation and mutual interest for future collaborations between Muara Port Company Sdn Bhd (MPC) and Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam (BIBD) and Bank of China (Hong Kong) Limited Brunei Branch (BOCB) was held at The Empire Brunei yesterday.
The signing followed an earlier MoU signing between the Department of Fisheries at the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism (MPRT) and MPC to design, build, operate and maintain as part of modernisation and redevelopment plans for the Muara Fish Landing Complex.
Minister of Primary Resources and Tourism Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Ali bin Apong, Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Finance and Economy II and Chairman of MPC Dato Seri Setia Dr Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah, Minister of Development Dato Seri Setia Ir Awang Haji Suhaimi bin Haji Gafar, Minister of Transport and Infocommunications and Chairman of Maritime and Port Authority of Brunei Darussalam Dato Seri Setia Awang Abdul Mutalib bin Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Setia Dato Paduka Haji Mohd Yusof, and Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Brunei Darussalam Yu Hong attended as special guests.
Officials from the public and private sectors, foreign direct investors and the Muara Fish Landing Complex business operators were also present.
The signatories for the first MoU were MPC Director of Marketing and Business Development Zhong Kunyu and BIBD Corporate Banking Head Koh Swam Sing, with MPC Chief Financial Officer Lyu Guoli and BIBD Structured Finance, Corporate Banking Division Head Abdul Azim bin Haji Mohammad as witnesses.
Meanwhile, MPC Chief Operating Officer Fazilah Yassin and BOCB Deputy General Manager Zheng Gang signed the second MoU, witnessed by MPC Chief Executive Officer Zeng Caili and BOCB Corporate Banking Department Head Qu Peng Cheng.
The MoU looks to strengthen cooperation between MPC and the banks, and build valuable partnership for future engagements. MPC looks forward to the implementation of the MoU and the development of the Muara Fish Landing Complex.
