The Maritime and Port Authority of Brunei Darussalam (MPABD) held a mass Asar prayer and a Doa Kesyukuran ceremony at the Duli Pengiran Muda Mahkota Pengiran Muda Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah Mosque in Kampong Tamoi yesterday.
The event, in conjunction with MPABD’s anniversary and World Maritime Day 2019, was attended by Minister of Transport and Infocommunications and Chairman of MPABD Board of Directors Dato Seri Setia Awang Abdul Mutalib bin Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Setia Dato Paduka Haji Mohammad Yusof who was the guest of honour.
It was an annual event for MPABD to commemorate its establishment on September 28, 2017.
The ceremony began with a mass Sunnat Hajat and Asar prayers led by Imam of the mosque Faisal bin Janif @ Rusli followed by the presentation of donations to orphans.
The minister also presented a contribution of one unit of printer to Haji Tarif Religious School in Kampong Tamoi and an air conditioner unit to the Duli Pengiran Muda Mahkota Pengiran Muda Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah Mosque.
This year’s World Maritime Day, themed ‘Empowering Women in the Maritime Community’, was chosen by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) to raise awareness on the importance of gender equality and to highlight the contribution of women within the maritime sector, which is in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 2030.
Deputy Permanent Secretary (Infocommunications, Cybersecurity, Strategy and Corporate) at the Ministry of Transport and Infocommunications Haji Hairul Mohd Daud bin Haji Abdul Karim, Chief Executive of MPABD Haji Mohammad Salihin bin Haji Aspar, Chief Executive of the Authority for Info-communications Technology Industry of Brunei Darussalam (AITI) Pengiran Haji Mohd Zain bin Pengiran Haji Abdul Razak, MPABD Board of Directors, heads of departments, and senior officers at the ministry and departments were also present.
