MoU inked to explore framework for educational, research cooperation

SEAMEO Voctech Regional Centre signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Universitas Negeri Surabaya (UNESA), Indonesia recently.

The MoU was signed virtually at UNESA and SEAMEO Voctech in Gadong where both parties agreed to explore the possibility of a framework for educational and research cooperation.

The event began with welcoming remarks by UNESA Rector Professor Dr Nurhasan, followed by a speech by SEAMEO Voctech Centre Director Alias bin Haji Abu Bakar. Following the signing of MoU, both parties discussed future activities and plans for the next three years which include organising a virtual forum or symposium.

The scope of cooperation includes exchanges of researchers, lecturers, development of joint courses, workshops, training and education programmes, exchanges of information including vocational education materials and research publications, and joint conferences and seminars which are mutually agreed.

Prior to the MoU signing, the parties had been collaborating in international conferences and seminars, research and journal publications, and the regional networking such as in Regional Association of Vocational Teacher Education in East and Southeast Asia.

Signing on behalf of SEAMEO Voctech was Alias. UNESA was represented by Professor Dr Nurhasan. Witnessing the signing were Vice Rector for Planning and Partnership at UNESA Dr Sujarwanto, and SEAMEO Voctech Deputy Director for Professional Affairs Dr Paryono.
