A motorcyclist, injured in a crash with a car in the Belait District on Tuesday, was pronounced dead before admission to hospital.

The collision occurred at the roundabout near the Pengiran Anak Puteri Hajah Rashidah Sa’adatul Bolkiah Secondary School in Lumut.

Sungai Liang Police Station personnel were called to the scene of the accident at 8.21pm, where they were joined by the emergency services crew.

The victim, a 32-year-old local man, was taken to the Suri Seri Begawan (SSB) Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) said the man was on his way home to RPN Kampong Lumut, when the motorcycle he was riding collided with a vehicle coming from the opposite direction.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the accident.

The RBPF reminded road users to abide by traffic rules and regulations, including the specified speed limits.

Road users are also urged to be more attentive, and not to engage in street racing, which is illegal.
