The Darussalam Motorcycle Association (PEMODA) belatedly celebrated its silver jubilee at The Rizqun International Hotel yesterday.

Founded in 1996, the celebrations marked a return to normal as the COVID-19 pandemic last year delayed its 25th anniversary event.

Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Awang Haji Nazmi bin Haji Mohamad was guest of honour. Also present was the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Transport and Infocommunications Ir Haji Mohammad Nazri bin Haji Mohammad Yusuf.

The organisation’s Pengiran Haji Redzuan bin Pengiran Haji Ahmad said PEMODA has been organising and participating in religious, national, community, tourism, road safety and sports activities both domestically and internationally.

“Active members are very important asset and the machinery for the effective implementation of the mission and achieve the vision, which is to produce quality, ethical and disciplined members to support Brunei Vision 2035,” he added.

A special lecture on the Malay Islamic Monarchy (MIB) was delivered by Deputy Director of the Jawi Studies and Kitab Turath Research Centre at Religious Teachers University College of Seri Begawan (KUPU SB) Dr Haji Mohd Shahrol Azmi bin Haji Abdul Muluk.

The event also saw the presentation of the PEMODA 25 Years Special Badge; PEMODA COVID-19 Volunteer Crew Special Badge; and PEMODA Special Jacket by the guest of honour.

PEMODA is the first motorcycle association registered in Brunei Darussalam and is the oldest and largest motorcycle association in the country.
