Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Finance and Economy II Dato Seri Setia Dr Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah said mothers on maternity leave should not go to work “even if they are being forced to”.

“There are rules set on that matter. If a mother is on maternity leave, then they should only be at home,” he elaborated.

On a separate note, the minister announced that childcare service workers affected by the second wave of the COVID-19 outbreak can apply to the National Welfare System (SKN).

“As some childcare services are now closed, they can apply for SKN, should their income be affected by the outbreak,” said Dato Seri Setia Dr Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew.
