Two men aged 36 and 51 have been detained by the Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) for allegedly committing a series of thefts targetting mosques.

The suspects were arrested after an investigation of a theft incident led to one of the suspects being caught on the CCTV of Kampong Labi Mosque on March 6. Police from Belait and Tutong districts collaborated on the investigation.

The mosque staff reported several items were missing and believed to be stolen, including a vacuum cleaner, water filter, and temperate screening devices.

RBPF said the stolen items have been recovered.

Both suspects were believed to be involved in similar thefts from several mosques in Tutong District.

The suspects will face the charge of Chapter 22, Section 380 of the penal code. If found guilty, the suspects will face imprisonment and whipping.

The RBPF urged for public cooperation to help curb criminal activities by sharing information.
