Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam (BIBD) donated BND50,000 for an interior decoration project to Suri Seri Begawan Raja Pengiran Anak Damit Mosque in Kampong Manggis/Madang yesterday, in conjunction with the mosque’s 10th anniversary.
BIBD Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Junaidi bin Haji Masri presented the donation to head imam Nuzli bin Haji Jumat.
Adviser of the mosque’s takmir committee Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia (Dr) Haji Awang Abu Bakar bin Haji Apong was also present.
The donation will fund the interior decoration project of the mosque, set to be completed in three months. The project, first proposed in 2019, was delayed due to COVID-19 and resumed in 2023. It aims to decorate the mosque’s walls and entrance with Al-Quran verses, Asmaa Ul- Husna and Zikir. The designs feature motifs of mangosteen flowers and fruits, madang flowers, simpur flowers, groom’s jewellery called ‘pending’ and bridal jewellery called ‘serbang’, creating a unique and beautiful look for the mosque.
The project, costing BND226,250, will be carried out by Yayasan Restu Malaysia.
Meanwhile, in conjunction with the establishment of the mosque, a number of religious programmes from sports and leisure activities, cleanliness and landscaping are in the pipeline, including the publication of a special book.
The religious programme will begin with a Tahlil ceremony at the Royal Mausoleum, followed by Tadabbur Al-Quran, Al-Quran reading competition for men and women, and the Khatam Al-Quran. – Azlan Othman
