Mosque officers attend fire prevention talk

SOME 150 mosque officers nationwide participated in a briefing and practical exercise on the prevention and handling of fires at Jame’ ‘Asr Hassanil Bolkiah in Kampong Kiarong yesterday.

The event was organised by the Department of Mosque Affairs in collaboration with Jame’ ‘Asr Hassanil Bolkiah.

Acting Director of Mosque Affairs Haji Amir Hisham bin Haji Masri was present as the guest of honour. Also in attendance were officials and staff from the Department of Mosque Affairs, Ministry of Religious Affairs.

The purpose of the briefing was to provide the participants understanding and knowledge on fire hazards and measures to take in the event of an emergency situation.

The event began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah, followed by the briefing on the prevention of fires by Station Officer of the Public Relations Division of the Fire and Rescue Department Pengiran Md Ali Rahman bin Pengiran Haji Salleh.

The event ended with the participants putting out fires using fire extinguishers.
