More to responsibility than returning trolley

I would like to respond to Angry Dad’s letter on ‘Returning trolleys isn’t hard’, published in the Bulletin on June 6, as a parent that brings children along on grocery shopping trips without the help of other adults.

When my kids were still little, I couldn’t just leave them inside the car while I wheeled the trolley back to its receptacle. With the engine on, someone could steal my car, with my children in it. That would make me an irresponsible parent!

Not everything is black and white, and I hope this letter has highlighted that. Leaving the trolley in the car park doesn’t make a person irresponsible.
