Fasting is not just abstaining from eating and drinking but includes guarding the tongue and not listening to lies, imams said during the Friday sermon.
“One should also guard one’s tongue from talking nonsense, backbiting or quarrelling, telling lies, making slanderous remarks and defaming others,” imams said.
Imams added, “One should also lower one’s gaze and refrain from committing forbidden acts and matters that prevent us from remembering Allah the Almighty.”
