More time granted to defence in alcohol possession case

THE Magistrate’s Court yesterday granted more time to the defence team in an ongoing case involving a hotel operator and a foreign man charged with possession of large quantities of beer and liquor.

Magistrate Dewi Norlelawati binti Haji Abdul Hamid adjourned the case to March 14 giving more time to the hotel operator and Jerome Jean Van Helden, 40, to give instructions to lawyer Zheng On.

The operator and Van Helden were allegedly in illegal possession of 144 cans of beer and 92 bottles of liquor at the hotel in the capital at 5.50pm on December 4, 2018.
