It’s been over two months since students have returned to virtual learning. As a parent of three children, I have been stressed in this second wave due to some teachers seemingly more interested in loading their students with homework that needs to be completed within a short span of time.
I have read of teachers who try to make virtual lessons fun and engaging; and that’s absolutely commendable. However, most of my children’s teachers are doing the opposite – bombarding them with assignments and not much creativity in delivering classes.
The overloading of children with schoolwork inadvertently puts a tremendous amount of pressure on parents. We can sympathise with teachers feeling rushed to finish the year’s syllabus. But the more homework our children receive, the more time we will have to spend helping them, which can be stressful for working parents.
