Prosecutors yesterday pressed more charges against the local man in the katana brandishing case, linked to a viral video.

Hamzah bin Pehin Orang Kaya Kesuma Dato Paduka Haji Ali, 53, now faces charges of committing affray in a public place at 3am on March 21, in Jalan Kampong Setia ‘A’, possessing an offensive weapon and breach of public peace.

No plea was taken from Hamzah on the three charges by Acting Senior Magistrate Kamaliah Fadhilah binti Haji Ibrahim as defence counsel Pengiran Khairul Nizam bin Pengiran Haji Mohd Yassin asked for a month’s time to get instructions from Hamzah.

Hamzah is now out on a bail of BND5,000 or two local sureties, to report himself to the police once a fortnight, avoid being entangled with the law, avoid prosecution witnesses at any expense and remain within police radar.

Prosecutor Nur Hidayatul Aeny Alisah binti Haji Zullizam’s charges carry lengthy jail terms with whipping and a fine.

The court adjourned the case to be mentioned again on April 22.
