There is perhaps only one cash deposit machine (CDM), at the Old Airport, dedicated to prepaid top-up for electricity for all residents in the Brunei-Muara District.
Not only is one machine not sufficient to serve the whole district, it is also known to malfunction on a regular basis.
For example, on June 1, the CDM was offline for over an hour, resulting in a long queue of very annoyed customers.
There were no maintenance staff on duty to handle technical issues. Meanwhile, the watchman could not help much as he did not have his superior’s contact number in the case of an emergency.
It took us an hour of contacting the hotline non-stop for the CDM to go back online, which should not be the case.
I would like the Department of Electrical Services to consider installing a new CDM in a more densely populated area as well as put up a list of the vendors that offer prepaid electrical cards at the CDM.
